Jesus came to pardon our sins, but He also came to heal the brokenhearted so we can walk in freedom. Freedom from pain, guilt, shame, sin, and condemnation. By His wounds we are healed. May God continue to bless us on the path to complete restoration and healing in Him.
Well, the 3rd
anniversary of my husband’s sobriety came and went and we didn’t even notice!!
How’s that for healing? This past month marked the 3rd year since my
husband’s repentance and the transformation in our marriage. And you know I’m kind
of glad we didn’t celebrate his sobriety. Don’t get me wrong, I’m VERY glad
that he is still sober, still walking in that repentance, still pursuing purity;
but I’m also glad that our life is beginning to not be marked by our past. We
are moving on and looking ahead, and the pain of pornography has lost its grip
on me. I am not consumed by it; in fact it rarely crosses my mind anymore.
because of Jesus!
I know that
some people will think I’m a radical or that I am pushing religion (which Jesus
is NOT religion but that’s a whole ‘nother blog!). But in reality, Jesus is the
reason we found healing. He is the reason my husband has stayed sober. He is
the reason we found restoration and transformation in our marriage. He is the
reason I am confident our marriage will stand strong. He is the reason I am
confident that my husband can defeat pornography for the rest of his life. He
is the reason I am able to celebrate victories and share struggles with other
women who are hurting. And I will take every opportunity I can to point people
to the Gospel rather than to a self-help book or blog. They are great resources
and I have many posted on this site, but ultimately it is Jesus Christ who made
the healing real.
So I guess I am
celebrating. I am celebrating Jesus and the amazing things He has done in me,
my husband, our marriage, and our family! Praise God!
